ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB)

ASEAN and Brazil 
            ASEAN Committee in Brasilia (ACB) was fully endorsed and established in 2012 as ASEAN’s official mechanism to promote ASEAN’s identity and relations with Brazil. Comprising of 7 ASEAN Member States namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, it is the second largest ASEAN Committee in Third Country in the Americas after ASEAN Committee in Washington D.C. This reflects the importance that ASEAN attaches to Brazil. 
           Since its inception, ACB has continued to work closely with all sectors of Brazil to promote closer relations in all dimensions and awareness between one another. One of the highlights of ACB’s activity is the annual ASEAN Food and Cultural Festival in Brasilia which received 1,500 people in 2019. ACB also paid various courtesy calls on high ranking officials of the Brazilian Government throughout the years to discuss means to maintain and further partnership between them. 
            Thailand is the current chair of ACB. The term lasts from July to December 2020.
